Best and Worst Halloween Experiences

It's officially that time of the year again when the seasons are changing, and things are getting spooky! As much as I love scary things, Halloween has never really been my holiday, but ever since I started college, I've become better at celebrating it with my friends. I've had some pretty crazy experiences, but I've also had some great memories associated with this holiday that I want to share with you guys!

Let's start with the negative. Now, I like to thing that I'm the queen of bad luck on an everyday basis, so Halloween tends to take things to another level for me. Each year, I always look back on one event that actually does a great job o convincing me to stay inside. This memory was from when I was around 10 yeas old. Like many kids that age, I decided to go trick-or-treating with my cousin, and what started off as a great night, turned into absolute chaos. That year, my cousin and I decided to be cool thieves, dressed in all black, sunglasses included. Both of us were happy with the candy we had managed to collect throughout the night, but out of greed, we decided to go on a street that was dark and empty. All the other kids had already made their rounds here, so we were about to be alone. As we make our way to the first house, I notice that there are dogs barking somewhere nearby. I being someone who was petrified of dogs at that point in my life knew that I needed to get the hell out of there, but my cousin was super persistent. Next thing I know, there are two big dogs running towards us, and I turn around and my cousin has already made a run for it! I started to make a run for it too, and we eventually outran the dogs. As we stopped to catch our breath, I notice a few guys wearing a mask approaching us with chainsaws in their hands. I have never been more afraid in my life. They started to chase us, and in that moment, all I could think was this is how I die. Turns out, we actually knew the guys. My other cousin and his friends decided it would be a good prank. To this day, that prank still haunts me. It felt way too real.

The good always outweighs the bad, and in this case, I have so many happy memories, it's really difficult to just choose one. I think one of my favorite Halloween experiences has been with my best friend. She and I both enjoy scary movies, spooky stories, and anything twisted and freaky. A couple years ago, we decided to go to a Halloween bar crawl, and we ended up having so much fun! I think the drinks definitely helped make the night more enjoyable, but being with someone who I am so comfortable with was the best part. When we came back home, we have a scary movie marathon, and just laughed the entire night because we were drunk and kept getting easily scared.
Another fond memory I have is with a past boyfriend. That year, we went out to celebrate the day before Halloween, and to my pleasant surprise, he dressed up as Captain America. That in itself took my heart, but overall, that night was one of the most memorable nights I've ever had. When we got home from the parties, he asked me what I wanted to do to celebrate the next day (which was actually Halloween day). I honestly had no idea, and he suggested that we stay inside, he'd cook, and we'd have a candle lit dinner. I mean, does it get more romantic? Obviously I said yes, and it will always be a memory I hold near and dear to my heart.
I hope each of you have tons of fun this year! I'd love to hear more about your best and worst experiences in the comments below!
