This face mask is one that is near and dear to my heart because my mom has practically raised me on it. She got the recipe from my nani (granny), and my nani got it from her mom, and so on and so forth. Basically, this face mask has been around for hundreds, if not thousands of years in India, and I promise you, it actually works wonders! Growing up, I used to hate putting in on my face because it felt like so much work (I was a tomboy, could you blame me?), but today I thank my mom each day for nagging me all those years about how this will help my skin in future years!
This face mask is super simple because it only requires four ingredients:
gram flour (you can find this at any Indian grocery store, or even Amazon)
honey
turmeric
milk (You can use any milk you prefer, just be sure to add a little at a time.)
Once you have all these ingredients, mix them up in a small bowl. Add the milk a little at a time until you have a slightly thick paste. You don't want it too thick, just enough to where it can sit on your face without dripping anywhere. Apply a thin layer to your face and neck, and let it sit until it completely dries. It should take about 10 minutes. After it dries, wash with warm water while gently scrubbing (this is where it exfoliates your skin). Pat your face dry with a clean towel, and boom, you're going to feel like a new woman!
This mask not only brightens your skin tone, but it also helps with acne prone skin. The turmeric is a natural anti-oxidant which helps fight acne and reduces scars and pigmentation. Honey is an antibacterial, which also helps in acne treatment and prevention. If you apply this mask consistently (once or twice a week for at least 2 months), you will start to notice a difference. Try it and let us know how it goes!
XOXO,
Nikita
