Let's face it, we all love a good tailgate! The food, the people, the music, everything adds up to an amazing time. I've learned that for events like these, your makeup actually matters; not for other people, but for you, and your comfort and confidence! You know there's going to be some attractive guys around so you want to be sure to look good, but you also know that you're going to be outdoors, so you don't really want to cake your face and then sweat it out and look like a hot mess. It sounds like a lot, but don't worry, I've got you covered! I'm about to share some tips that I've learned over the years.

1. Keep it simple: Since you're going to be outside in the sun, stay away from overdoing it. In this case, less is always more. Settle for powder foundation, instead of liquid. Define those brows, but don't go heavy on the eye shadows. Add some blush, but there's no need to contour. Remember, that once you're under the sun, your make-up is going to stand out even more, so being soft and subtle will go far.

2. Go for a bold lip: When in doubt, go for bold lip colors. When the rest of your face is more simple, a bold lip will seal the deal! I personally love choosing from shades of red. If it's spring or summer, choose colors that are more bright and vibrant. For fall and winter, settle for deeper shades like maroon, plum, or wine. Trust me, you'll have all the guys fighting for your attention!

3. Highlighting will always do the trick: This is by far one of my all time favorite tricks. There is nothing like a glowing face, and for that, highlighting works best! When the sun hits your face, it'll add a deeper glow and you'll naturally have chiseled cheeks. If you have play skin, settle for shades of gold or rose gold to add a little shine. For my women with darker skin tones, gold and rose gold work well, but I've learned that copper tones work even better for a natural looking shine.
Whatever you choose to do, just make sure that you're comfortable! Find a look that represents who you are as an individual, because that will help boost your confidence like no other. Last, but never the least, don't forget the cardinal rule. If you wear a bold lip, keep the eyes simple. On the other hand, if you choose a smokey eye, go for a nude lip! I hope you have lots of fun! If you have any tricks of the trade, be sure to share them in the comments below!
