According to The World Factbook, the three countries with the longest life expectancy at birth include:
Singapore at 85.2 years
Japan at 85.3 years
Monaco at 89.4 years
Curious about where the US stands in relation? We were number 43 on the list with 80.0 years. Yikes.
While there are many factors that go into life expectancy, one of them is diet. So today we are going to be looking at a very brief snapshot of what these three countries typically eat. There might be something to learn!
1. Singapore

The cuisine in Singapore is very diverse as a result of their many different ethnic groups, some of the largest being Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian. However, staples across the country include rice, noodles, and seafood.
2. Japan

Japanese dietary guidelines include a diet high in grains and similarly high in vegetable dishes, a moderate amount of fish and meat, and smaller amounts of dairy and fruit.
3. Monaco

Monaco is right on the Mediterranean, which means a typical diet in Monaco consist of seafood, fruits and vegetables, lots of olive oil, nuts, and whole grains.
How similar do these diets look compared to yours? I know they look nothing like my own, and maybe it's time to change that.
