Coffee Shops around ATL (that aren't Starbucks)

I love my venti iced coffee with caramel and cream from Starbucks just as much as the next gal, but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up a little bit. Here are my favorite coffee shops to visit when I’m feeling a little less basic than usual!

1. Land of a Thousand Hills Roswell, GA
Located near downtown Roswell, this tiny, blue coffee house is my favorite place to go when I have a lot of work to do. The hushed bustling of the baristas quickly getting orders out provides the perfect atmosphere for those who can’t stand deafening silence when they are working. Add on a quaint patio, and you have the perfect getaway for someone who wants an excellent cup of coffee with the ideal atmosphere for getting things done. Their menu might be small, but you can never go wrong with one of their classic lattes.
352 Atlanta St, Roswell GA
2. Kafenio
Located in College Park GA, Kafenio, is your place to go if you are looking for modern, upbeat version of the traditional Mediterranean Cafe. While I did not order anything to eat of the menu, the Triple Americano was enough to keep me coming back for more. Johnny Gianoulidis opened the joint, and as a first generation Greek-American he is looking to create an inviting atmosphere with good food and better coffee.

3. Hodgepodge Coffee House and Gallery
Hodgepodge Coffee House and Gallery is located on the Eastside, but it is worth the drive for their locally roasted beans. I ordered a simple black coffee with cream and it transformed the way I look at a regular cup of Joe. The coffee house is also covered in art, so expect to spend at least 5 minutes looking over every amazing piece they’ve hung up.
720 Moreland Avenue Atlanta, GA
4. Dancing Goats Coffee Bar
Full disclosure, I visited the Dancing Goats Coffee bar strictly because I liked the name. However, their fresh blend kept me coming back. Located in Ponce City Market, it was the first shop to open in the busy area, and their screened in porch is perfect for the changing fall weather.
650 North Avenue NE, Atlanta GA
5. Anis Cafe and Bistro
Anis Cafe and Bistro is a place I have been going to for years, but it wasn’t until recently that I went in for a cup of coffee. Having been around for over 20 years, Anis has perfected the traditional cup of coffee. Placed right in the city, this French bistro is charming beyond words. And if you’re not in the mood for some caffeine their wine selection is to die for.
